Just a couple of games left until the culminating conclusion of the football season, the Super Bowl 53, and today we will take a look at the first game this Sunday, the matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints. The NFC Championship on Sunday will garner plenty of attention from both fans and bettors with the sportsbooks already posting odds on the Sunday postseason games.
And we don’t have to tell anyone that this would not be an easy game to call. Considering that these two teams already met in the regular season, November 4th to be exact, when the Saints managed to squeeze a ten-point victory over the Rams, beating them 45-35 at home and giving the LA Rams their first season loss. At the time the game was dubbed by the media as a mini Super Bowl, and while the Saints comfortably won the matchup in New Orleans, one should never forget that in reality, this was for from a playoff game and a loss was not detrimental to either team. Move the clock two months forward and now we have a game on which a trip to the actual Super Bowl rides – and we have an excellent match. So without further commentary, let’s take a look at how the sportsbooks are viewing the NFC Championship game this Sunday and what point spread and betting odds have been posted on the game in question.
Starting with our preferred online sportsbook, Bookmaker, where the Saints are once again the favorite team to win and punch a ticket to Super Bowl LIII. At the sportsbook the point spread on the Rams – Saints game has New Orleans a -3.5 points favorite, the Rams at +3.5 respectively. The money line on the game here is at -176 favoring the Saints and the LA Rams would pay out on +151 line, should they manage to deliver an upset at the Superdome this Sunday. The total expected by the betting site is at 57 points with the over paying more at -104 and the under being the apparent choice for bettors at -116.
Looking at a couple of other sportsbooks for comparison, it
appears that at the moment all sportsbooks are in agreement, at least on
the point spread. At both
Bovada Sports and
5Dimes the Saints are -3.5 ATS this
weekend, although don’t forget that 5Dimes will let you customize your
own point spread anywhere from +1 to -10.5 chalk New Orleans (or
respectively the Rams), although naturally you’d take a hit on the
payout, so choose wisely. At 5Dimes the money line on the New Orleans
Saints is currently at -190 and the Rams are underdog with +165 odds to
win a trip to the Super Bowl next month. The huge discrepancy among the
sportsbooks on the NFC Championship game comes with the total, which
5Dimes has posted at the measly 27 points. The odds makers at Bovada
Sports have the total in line with Bookmaker, at 57 points, but the
money line here is a bit different. The Saints remain favorite at -170
while the underdog odds on the LA Rams are +150 on an upset this
weekend.
