Monday Night Football is coming up this week and we are set to enjoy a game many are already dubbing the “Mini-Superbowl” – the battle between the LA Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs. As many of you know, the game was initially scheduled to be played in Mexico City as part of the NFL’s international expansion, but due to the horrific condition of the playing surface south of the border, the game was moved back to LA.
While this created quite the headache for the NFL, it also managed to push the spread a bit more in favor of the Rams, even though most football analysts agree that home-field advantage in LA is not quite par with places like New Orleans or Green Bay. Regardless, the oddsmakers felt that there was still enough support to move the Chiefs Rams point spread from the previous two points in favor of the Rams to the current -3.5 chalk LA. And for a game of such magnitude and interest, the sportsbooks are in surprising harmony – both Bookmaker and Bovada Sports have the LA Rams favorite against the spread at three and a half point, while only 5Dimes is current set on -3; that said, keep in mind that 5Dimes is the only sportsbook that would allow you to play with the spread: you can take it anywhere from -2 to -4 chalk the Rams, taking a hit on the payout, of course.
Even though the point spread on the Chiefs – Rams game is
pretty much the same at all sports betting websites, the line varies
quite a bit, depending on your chosen sportsbook. If betting the
Rams one would make the least profit at 5Dimes, who have LA -180
favorite to win the game, while Kansas City is sitting at +158; followed
by Bookmaker, where the Rams are -177 and the Chiefs underdog at +154,
but Bovada is sticking its head the most with the “measly” -165 line on
the Rams and just +145 on the Chiefs. The over-under on the game is
tighter, ranging from 63 to 64 points among the sportsbooks.
