Super Bowl 2020 Point Spread, Odds, Line, and Total

The 54th edition of the Super Bowl is near, starting on February 2nd, 2020, at 6:30pm EST, live from Miami, and today we will take a look at the point spread, line and other betting numbers posted on the big game. Before we get to the sportsbooks and what they are offering on the 2020 Super Bowl, let's briefly recap who's playing and how we they got here. Arguably, we managed to get two of the very elite teams this season to meet at Super Bowl 54: the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. In the divisional rounds, the 49ers were on a collision course with the Saints, another top football team this year, but luckily for them, the Vikings managed to knock off Drew Brees and Co. early. San Francisco had no problem with the Vikings next, and really exposed the Packers in the NFC title game, to book their tickets to Miami. The Chiefs, on the other side, had anything but smooth sailing, falling double digits behind both the Texans and the Titans. While points-wise the comeback against the Texans was more impressive, the Titans felt like they could be the upset of the season, but failed to hold on to their lead. And now we have Super Bowl 54 as good as we could've wished for - the 49ers vs. the Chiefs.

And if you though the road to Super Bowl 2020 was entertaining, wait until we show you the point spread and line on the Championship game at some of the sportsbooks. In a nutshell, however, it's insane right now! The numbers have been bouncing like a snippet of a cardiogram, and we can't honestly declare a favorite at this point, a dream come true for the football fan, but a nightmare for the gambler. What we can say is that the Kansas City Chiefs opened a 1.5 points favorite, but a lot has changed. Let's try to make sense of what's going on by taking a look at three of the most popular online sportsbooks. Starting with the high-limit friendly one, Bookmaker, the Chiefs are still a small favorite to win Super Bowl 2020 with a -119 line, although the San Francisco 49ers aren't offing much value either with -101 odds to win. The Super Bowl 2020 point spread here is at -1 point chalk the Chiefs and the over/under at the sportsbook has been holding steady at 54 points.

At Boada Sports you can get a bit more on the spread, however. Here the Kansas City Chiefs are -1.5 points against the spread, although at this point one may consider just betting the line. The odds on the Chiefs are -120 and the 49ers would pay out on even odds, should the secure the win in February. The total on the game at Bovada has ticked up slightly and is now at 54.5 points. Another popular sportsbook, 5Dimes, is still maintaining the 54 total points on the over-under, but here the point spread has already been beaten down to a "pick", while the line on the Chiefs to win is -123, vs. +103 on the 49ers.

For comparison, the Las Vegas sportsbooks are unanimously at -1 point chalk the Chiefs, right now. Who knows how the spread and line would move there with time?

As you can see, the betting numbers on the Super bowl this year are a total mess, which, as noted earlier, indicates one of the most exciting NFL closings we have seen in a decade or more. At this point, we certainly don't recommend anyone jump in to bet, unless you really have to (or want to). With well more than a week left until the start of Super Bowl 54, a lot of things may happen, and we advise everyone to sit tight and keep an eye on the spread and betting odds. Presently, there just isn't much value to urge the bettor to jump in head first so early, unless some huge news (injury, arrest, etc.) comes out of San Francisco and at the same time, you believe nothing would stop them from winning Super bowl 2020. Other than this very unique scenario, your best bet is to simply wait a bit more for the game to near, and see how the sharp money would influence the odds and spread.
