It’s about that time – the 2017 Super Bowl game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots is around the corner and it’s time to look at the betting odds and point spread on the game. As always, the best gauge of future outcome is the odds posted by the sportsbooks, so without wasting anymore time, let’s take a look at a few online sportsbooks and see their predictions of the various possible outcomes of the 2017 Super Bowl.
No surprise, across the board we have the Patriots being the favorite to win Super Bowl 51 and the bookies are in a somewhat of an agreement both on the point spread and the odds to win outright. Let’s start with the numbers at our top sportsbook, Bookmaker, which is kind enough to provide us with the current betting patterns, in addition to the betting lines. At Bookmaker the New England Patriots are -154 to win the matchup outright, while the Falcons are underdog with odds +134. However, the current betting patterns show that the sportsbook’s customers are liking the odds and 60.1% of the bettors are taking the Atlanta’s odds to win the game. But when it comes to the 2017 Super Bowl point spread, the situation is a bet different. Bookmaker has the Pats at -3 against the spread, and 70.4% of the customers are betting on it. Clearly the spread bettors are favoring the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, while the money line folks are backing the Falcons so far. The over/under at this popular sportsbook is set at 58 points, but this will likely move very soon, since over 80% of the bettors are taking the “over” on this one.
The over/under has already moved at another popular online sportsbook, Bovada Sports, where it’s sitting at 59.5 points (and the “over” bettors are still the majority). At this sportsbook the Patriots are also -3 ATS, although the odds to win on New England are down to -145, while the Flacons would pay on just +125.
A bit more value on the Atlanta Falcons could be found at GTBets, where they are paying on +135 money line to win Super Bowl 51. The Patriots are big favorite here with -155 betting odds on winning the game outright. The point spread here too is at -3 chalk the Patriots although early betting patterns show that this may be moved down by a half point to 2.5, but it’s not a guarantee, plus the majority of wagers are yet to come in.
Of course, there are literally hundreds of betting props on the 2017
Super Bowl at the online sportsbooks, such as whether Lady Gaga would
say “Trump” during the Super Bowl halftime show, and obviously we can’t
cover them all, so head on over there if you want to see them all or if
you just need to have a chuckle.
